Originally built in 1928 as three two bedroom flats, 66/68 Bell Lane was empty from 1978 to my purchase in 1994. It was locally listed but had permission for partial demolition and conversion into 6 flats. I thought it would make a good ‘loft’ house (and be cheaper to rebuild with one kitchen and front door than 6) and gained permission to convert it into a single dwelling  with; a studio and utility shower on the ground floor, an open plan kitchen, living dining on the first floor and a bedroom and bathroom on the top floor.

The windows, cast iron, brick and render were restored while the external stair was internalised with translucent structural glazing. The yard was opened up for off street parking and planted with climbing roses and jasmine.
